Each film coated tablets contains:
Methylprednisolone IP 4 mg
Methylprednisolone IP 8 mg
Methylprednisolone IP 16 mg
Methbylprdnisolone is the glucocorticoid . Mainly it is prednisolone derivative . It has higher potency then prednisone .
Indication
- Acute gouty arthritis
- Osteoarthritis
- In lupus erythematosus
- Allergic conditions
- Rheumatoid arthritis
- Tuberculosis
- Psoriasis
Mechanism of action
It mainly bound to the phospholipase –A2 which decreases the formation of the arachidonic acid and prevents the production of prostaglandins, also inhibits the NF-kappa B and other inflammatory mediators. It decreases the vasodilation and permeability of the capillaries, also decreases the migration of the leukocyte.corticosteroids bound to the glucocorticoid receptor and causes the changes in the gene expression.

It undergoes dehydrogenation

It excreted both via urine or feces

Contraindications:
- Contraindicated in hypothyroidism
- Contraindicated in diabetes
