Rosuvastatin belongs to the class of statin .It helps in lowering the increased lipid level and reduces the risk of cardiovascular diseases.
Indications
- Dyslipidemia
- Reduces the risk of cardiovascular events
Mechanism of action
It inhibits the enzyme hydroxymethylglutaryl coenzyme A Reductase which catalyzses the conversion of HMG-COA to mevalonic acid which involves in the synthesis of cholesterol so, rosuvastatin inhibits that enzyme.Pharmacokinetics
Absorption:It is absorb by oral route of administration.Protein Binding: It is about 88% bound to plasma protein, mainly to serum albumin.
Metabolism:It is metabolized to N-desmethylrosuvastatin.
Excretion:It is excreted via urine and feces

ContraIndications
- Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity
- Contraindicated in patients with liver disease
