Each uncoated tablet contains:
Tranxemic Acid IP 500 mg
Mefenamic Acid IP 250 mg
This combination is used together to treat pain associated with menstruation.
Indications
- Used in replacement therapy
- Use to treat excessive bleeding in case of surgery, menstruation or trauma
- In hemophilia
- Osteoarthritis
About composition
Tranexamic acid:
Tranexamic acid is a antifibrolytic drug. It is used to treat haemmorhages
Mefenamic acid:
Mefenamic acid is a non steroidal drug and have anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antipyretic property.
Mechanism of action
Tranexamic acid inhibits the activation of the plasminogen and prevents the conversion of plasminogen to plasmin and treats haemorrhages.
Mefenamic acid binds inhibits the enzyme prostaglandin synthetase and therefore inhibits the prostaglandin mediated action such as inflammation.
Pharmacokinetics
Absorption-
Mefenamic acid and tranexamic acid are absorbed by oral route
Protein binding-
Mefenamic acid is about 90% bound to serum proteins whereas tranexamic acid is only 3% bound to proteins
Metabolism-
Mefenamic acid is metabolized in liver and undergoes oxidation and glucuronidation whereas mefenamic acid is 5% metabolized
Excretion-
Both the drugs are excreted via kidney

Contraindications
- Contraindicated in patients with kidney failure
- Contraindicated in patients with color vision disorders
In pregnancy:
Tranexamic is considered to be safe for bleeding occurs during pregnancy
