Tablet Presentation
Each film coated tablet contains:
Levosulpride 25/50 mg
Levosulpiride is the enatiomer(levo) of sulpiride . It is the benzamide (substituted). it is used in the treatment of depression, pyschosis , dyspepsia .
Levosulpiride is the atypical antipsychotic agent it mainly act on the D2 receptors and blocks them.
Indications
- In pyschiatric illness
- Treats burning sensation of mouth
- Gastroparesis
- Diabetes
- Premature ejaculation
- schizophrenia
Mechanism of action
It acts on the both D1 and D2receptor but it antagonize d2 receptor and block its effects.

It is absorbed by oral administration to the GIT

It excreted via kidney

- Tardive dyskinesia
- Tremors
- Twitching of hands, tongue, facial muscles
- Sedation
- Drowsiness

Contraindications
- Contraindicated in elderly patients
- Contraindicated in patients with breast cancer
- Contraindicated in renal insufficiency
Caution
It is used cautiously by pregnant women
