Tablet Presentation

Each film coated tablet contains:
Levosulpride         25/50 mg


Levosulpiride is the enatiomer(levo) of sulpiride . It is the benzamide (substituted). it is used in the treatment of depression, pyschosis , dyspepsia .
Levosulpiride is the atypical antipsychotic agent it mainly act on the D2 receptors and blocks them.

Indications

• In pyschiatric illness
• Treats burning sensation of mouth
• Gastroparesis
• Diabetes
• Premature ejaculation
• schizophrenia

Mechanism of action

It acts on the both D1 and D2receptor but it antagonize d2 receptor and block its effects.

Absorption- It is absorbed by oral administration to the GIT
Excretion- It excreted via kidney

Side effects

• Tardive dyskinesia
• Tremors
• Twitching of hands, tongue, facial muscles
• Sedation
• Drowsiness
• Breast enlargement
• Akathisia

Contraindications

• Contraindicated in elderly patients
• Contraindicated in patients with breast cancer
• Contraindicated in renal insufficiency

Caution

It is used cautiously by pregnant women
