Each 5 ml of the reconstituted supension contains:
Cefixime Trihydrate IP
eq. to Cefixime 50 mg
Cefixime is the cephalosporin antibiotic. It falls under the first – generation cephalosporins. Cefixime is resistance against beta-lactamase enzymes. cefixime inhibits cell wall synthesis
Indications
- Treats gonorrhoea
- Used in tonsillitis
- In ear infection
- Bronchitis (inflammation in bronchi)
- Used in throat infections.
Mechanism of Action
Cefixime acts by binding with the penicillin binding protein present inside the cell wall of the bacteria and prevent the cross- linking of the NAM and NAG by inhibiting the peptidoglycan synthetase, causes lysis of cell wall of bacteria

Contraindication
- Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity
- Contraindicated in first trimester of pregnancy
