Each uncoated tablet contains:
Terbinafine Hydrochloride BP
equivalent to Terbinafine 250 mg
( in Betacyclodextrin )
Terbinafine is the synthetic antifungal.It fights against the infections caused by the fungus that mainly effect the nails of fingers and toe.
Indications and Usage

Used in the treatment pityriasis versicolor
- Fungal nail infections
- Jock itch
- Athlete’s foot
Mechanism of Action
It works by inhibiting the ergosterol synthesis by inhibiting the enzyme squalene epoxidase which is essential for the fungal cell wall synthesis.
Pharmacokinetics
Absorption:
It is absorbed by oral route of administration
Protein binding:
It is mostly bound to serum albumin i.e about 99% and to low density lipoproteins to lesser extend
Metabolism:
It undergoes N- demethylation to desmethylterbinafine
Excretion:
It excreted about 80% via urine and rest of the drug is excreted by feces
Side Effects
- Dizziness
- Rashes
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Abdominal pain
- Frequent urination
Contraindications
- Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity
- Contraindicated in patients with chronic and acute liver diseases
Storage
Store it at room temperature.
Caution
Terbinafine is cautiously used in pregnant women
