It is a corticosteroid is used in Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. It is the inherited gene disorder that occurs due to the mutation in the dystrophin gene, as dystrophin helps to improve the muscle function, deficiency of this gene results in the weakening of the muscles .

Mechanism of Action
Deflazacort is a prodrug and is metabolized to 21- deflazacort which is its active form, binds to the glucocorticoid receptors to exert its anti-inflammatory effect and immuno- suppressive property.

Absorption -
It is rapidly absorbed orally
Protein binding -
It is 40% bound to plasma proteins
Metabolism-
It is metabolized to 21- deflazacort
Excretion-
It is excreted mainly via urine .

Contraindications
- Contraindicated in people with known hypersensitivity
- Contraindicated during third and second trimester of pregnancy
Storage
Store it at room temperature away from light, heat and kept it at closed container.
